Russia

Russia’s U21s have fully played their part in a golden era for Russian volleyball and go into the tournament as the defending champions having won gold in 2013. They showed their potential by winning European bronze and after they topped the podium in 2013 they added further gold at the 2013 European Olympic Festival and the 2014 European Championship.

Nikolaev Mikhail

Nikolaev Mikhail has enjoyed notable success since he began coaching age-group level volleyball and he will be aiming for a second consecutive U21 gold medal after Russia’s success in 2013. Aside from his success in recent years with the U21 side he has also coached the U19 to gold at the U19 World Championship, European Championship and European Olympic Festival.
