USA defeat Iran in five sets to claim eleventh place

Mexicali, Mexico, September 20, 2015 - The United States defeated Iran for the second time at the FIVB Men’s U21 World Championship.

The Americans, coached by Daniel Friend won in five sets by scores of  25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 12-25 and 15-10 to claim the eleventh position of the championship.

John Hatch, captain of USA, was the most effective player with 14 points, while Colby Harriman finished with 10.

American blocking was fundamental to control the Iranian team in the last set as Andrew Benesh recorded five blocks.

The American team also worked hard on services as Richard Gervis, Jr, aced twice.

Iran finished in twelfth place with Salim Cheperli as leader in their offense after finishing with 11 points, while, Amin Esmaeilnezhad scored seven.
