Control Committee inspections take place in Tijuana and Mexicali

 

Control Committee President Philip Berben of Belgium and Ariel Sainz of Cuba talk with Local Organising Committee Members during an inspection of the court at the High Performance Centre in Tijuana.

Tijuana and Mexicali, Mexico, September 9 2015 - Members of the FIVB Control Committee have just arrived in Baja California.

On Tuesday morning, the Control Committee under the direction of Mr Philip Berben of Belgium held a joint meeting with the Local Organising Committee at the Fiesta Inn Hotel in Tijuana.

The first inspections took place at the High Performance Centre, as well as at the Mexicali State Auditorium.


The Preliminary Inquiries were also held at the High Performance Centre with the teams from Iran, Egypt, the United States, Canada, Japan, Italy, China and Mexico.

“We know that very good level events have taken place in Mexico, and we are very confident that the teams, personnel and all the staff member that are here with us will collaborate to have a successful competition,” said Berben.

“We feel honoured as the local organising committee to have you here and we are glad and sure that a good quality event will soon be part of volleyball history in Baja California,” said Saul Castro Verdugo, General Director of the Baja California Sports and Physical Culture Institute.

The training venues inspections were also part of the agenda. The General Technical Meeting is scheduled on Thursday night at the Grand Hotel Tijuana. An opening ceremony is expected Friday night, just before the match between hosts Mexico and Egypt at the High Performance Centre in Tijuana.
