Japan celebrate Mexican night at State Auditorium

Mexicali, Mexico, September 15, 2015 - In the last match played at Mexicali State Auditorium on Tuesday, Japan won against hosts Mexico 25-20, 25-16, 25 15 in Pool G for Places 9 to 16.

The night of the Mexican "Grito", the tradicional local celebration for the host country's Independence, was painted in red and white.

Ataru Kumakura scored 21 points for Japan while Taishi Onodera scored 9 points as well as Issei Otake.

For Mexico, Luis Gerardo Bojorquez was the best scorer with 9 points and Alan Gabirel Martinez finished with 8.

Both teams were tied in blocking points with six apiece, and Japan prevailed in services with 7 collective services against only one by Mexico.

Tsubasa Hisahara aced two times as well as Kumaura. Mexican setter Sebastian Castro scored the only ace by the locals.
